Diocese of Scranton, you are being Bamb(era)oozled again!

The Bishop of Scranton has whispered to the bulletin-reading faithful in the Diocese of Scranton. The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, Bishop of Scranton, has put forward his annual "Healing Mass for Survivors of Abuse" on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Bishop Bambera The prelate of Slocum's Hollow has chosen to have another Thursday matinee to… Continue reading Diocese of Scranton, you are being Bamb(era)oozled again!

Empowering Survivors to Come Face to Face with the Vicar General

During the last week, I have heard from several survivors from the Diocese of Scranton responding to my call for people to come and engage the Vicar General of the Diocese in a forum scheduled for March 5, 2020, by The University of Scranton's Task Force on Healing, Reconciliation, and Hope. It looks like there… Continue reading Empowering Survivors to Come Face to Face with the Vicar General

When Life Gives You Demons

It has been six months since my last post.   Much has happened for me, but nothing has changed as far as the Diocese of Scranton is concerned.  Everything remains a risk calculation for the boys on Wyoming Avenue.  We are no closer to the truth, no closer to the Bishop taking responsibility for his actions,… Continue reading When Life Gives You Demons

A letter from the VAC at the Diocese of Scranton: Independent Survivor Compensation Program

Author's note: This is my second attempt at this post. I have tempered my approach, but my outrage has not abated. A half-truth is even more dangerous than a lie. Bishop Timlin is in Baltimore! So much for keeping a low/no profile.

Archiving for Now

I have been struggling with this decision for a while.  I have decided to archive this blog, at least for now.  I think I have accomplished as much as I can using this forum.  I have been working on two other projects, one of which was completed over the weekend.  The second will take a… Continue reading Archiving for Now

Vatican Appoints New Bishop of Scranton

By Michael Baumann The Vatican appointed Monsignor Joseph Bambera as the 10th Bishop of Scranton. Bishop-elect Bambera is a native of Carbondale, Pennsylvania and is only the second local priest to be appointed to lead the Scranton See.  He has been running the day-to-day business of the Diocese since the premature retirement of Bishop Joseph Martino… Continue reading Vatican Appoints New Bishop of Scranton

Investigations of Abuse Claims Are Optional?

One would reasonably think that the Diocese would be interested in either vindicating a priest accused of criminal activity or document his activity in an effort to remove him from any environment where he could repeat his behavior.
