For those of you planning on attending the Healing, Reconciliation, and Hope event at the University of Scranton on Thursday, March 5, 2020, be aware of potential traffic and parking restrictions. President Trump is conducting a Town Hall Event during approximately the same time frame in Scranton. As of this posting, I have no information on whether the Task Force is considering canceling or postponing the event at the University. When I find out something, I will pass that information along.
The President’s event is going to be at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple on North Washington Avenue. It is planned to run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. According to the Times-Tribune, the following closures will start at noon Thursday until the event concludes:
- 400, 500, 600 blocks of Mulberry Street
- 400, 500, 600 blocks of Vine Street
- 300, 400, 500 blocks of North Washington Avenue
- 300, 400 blocks of Adams Avenue
If you don’t have a subscription to the Times-Tribune online you can get more information from WNEP’s website.
The bottom line here is that traffic is going to be very congested in and around the downtown Scranton area and parking will be a major concern.
